Marlborough's Spy Valley gets down and dirty ...

Here's a clip of a young Spy Valley couple caught in the act of performing the perverse French practice known as 'pigeage a pied'!!

Quelle horreur!!

(grape stomping with the feet) from the 2010 harvest.

  1. go check out the open concrete/waxed fermenters at Esk Valley Estate......much more rustic!!

  2. They still have the old square concrete fermenters at Kumeu River too - tho not waxed any more

  3. Looks to me as if they are plunging fresh pinot noir rather than crushing grapes, I know that is how it is done in France

  4. Hi Ray - I'm prett sure they are crushing freshly picked grapes - if they were plunging the cap they'd disappear below the surface!
